About
the school...
The Redmond School
of Irish Dancing with over 80 dancers taking lessons weekly
have established themselves as the main Irish Dancing group
in the Netherlands.
The classes
are separated into different age groups and levels.
The children's
beginners classes are for children from 4 years to 12 years
of age. In these lessons the children are taught dancing in
a slow pace with fun the main agenda. Once the children learn
all 4 basic dances they then move on to the next group where
they will move into hard shoes and the dancing is taken at
a more serious pace.
Adult beginners
: This group is taught also the basic dances first ,
catering for the individual rather than the group ( adults
learn at a slower pace to the children and usually need more
practise and time to master each dance). The adults also learn
in each class ( ceili dancing) which are group dances.
The school runs
a yearly Feis ( dancing competition) where all the dancers
from the School are encouraged to participate . They
also compete in many competitions on mainland Europe and travel
at least once a year to Ireland so the dancers can experience
and learn from the wonderful and talented dancers they have
there.
The school
also organises an annual summercamp. This is a great experience for the dancers who stay
for a week long together and dance everyday.
DISPLAYS:
Last but not least
the school also has a display
group that dance regularly throughout Holland , occasionally
dancing with such names as Ronnie Drew and Jim McCann.
